Ski Wedding at Big Sky Resort, Montana

Laura + Merv’s ski wedding at Big Sky Resort in Montana was one for the books. Both being ski patrollers and meeting while on patrol at the top of Andesite (where they would say their vows), it made perfect sense to celebrate their love for each other with a wedding day full of skiing.

While Dino, Merv’s avalanche dog, initially caught Laura’s eye, it didn’t take long for her to fall for Merv as well. Merv matches Laura’s athleticism and sense for adventure so well. They’ve been on hut trips through the Dolomites, trekked for 11 days through Norway, and of course, logged many hours skiing together in Montana.

Their day was perfect weather-wise. Mid-30s, partly sunny, and barely any wind. Laura got ready at the Summit Hotel at the base of the resort while Merv got ready in the Ski Patrol cabin. They headed up to the top of Andesite and saw each other on their wedding day for the first time where they had met four years earlier. Friends and family encircled them in the snow while Lone Peek loomed in the background. They shared their vows, popped champagne, and then took off on their ‘first ski’ through a tunnel of their loved ones.

The highlight of the day was skiing the Tram and the Big Couloir with 20+ of their friends. EPIC.

After a day full of skiing and one final run with Dino, they went back to the hotel to change before heading to Michelangelo’s for their reception.

I’m so happy that Laura + Merv had the wedding day of their dreams and were able to share their love of skiing with those they love.
